Trudi (White) Johnson was born and grew up in St. John’s, though her family’s roots are in Bonavista Bay. She graduated from Memorial University with a B.A., B.Ed, and M.Ed, and taught for ten years in the K - 12 school system in White Bay and Labrador City. She returned to Memorial in the 1990s and completed a doctoral degree in Newfoundland and Labrador History, specializing in matrimonial law and Inheritance practices. Currently, she is an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial where she enjoys teaching pre-service teachers and researches effective teaching and teacher efficacy.
In addition to writing fiction set in Newfoundland, she likes to garden, read murder mysteries, and obsess about hockey and baseball. Through her writing, she hopes her readers will come to understand the special connections that we all have to our past and appreciate how those who came before us shaped our lives. She is currently working on a sequel to From a Good Home.
She lives in St. John’s with her husband, Albert.
